Steam-rolling dark cloud, erupting over the range;
shadows engulf my town; its the penultimate stage.
Warm air soon dispersed, by the rustling of leaves.
One moment the earth stops and bends to its knees.
A mushroom touches heaven, like Hiroshima’s cloud.
Rumbles remind me of Dad’s tractor muffler, too loud.
Dusk transforms darkness, much darker than most,
canines begin howling, scared of the Kimberly ghost.
Like the flick of a switch, lightning strikes from the skies;
a bold strike of raw energy, it draws fear from my eyes.
For many brave seconds, I am compelled to stare on in awe,
then a thunder clap reverberates and scares me to the core.
