Is this the symbol of a girl’s oppressed lonely heart?
Once hiding beneath a pelt which cast a long shadow?
Her smile we long for, is now tearing a world apart,
with no chance to heal a families hurt or sorrow.
Never again to be donned, or hear her tender breath;
her hat once proudly adorned for all to love and see.
In respect, all Akubra’s bowed to honour her death;
an escape from a cruel world, a bright girl wished to flee.
So when a hat fits, should we now stop to remember?
Or are consequences still lurking within its shade?
Let’s tilt our brims, to acknowledge a doll so tender;
then ask, how many more tormented lives will be laid?
As Dolly lights up her pure world, along with new mates;
her final humble message is passed on for us all….
Always be kind and speak out, even when your voice shakes;
for more voices, will help you stand up stronger and tall.
In memory of Amy “Dolly” Everett, Born 1st May 2003 .
A victim of bullying; who ended her life at just 14 years of age.
