Just how high are the stakes?

March 12, 2019

The higher the stakes, the more potent the fuels,

fragile are emotions, til greed changes the rules.

Patience soon deserts them; it’s no longer a friend;

how much to borrow, and from whom do they lend?

A habit is forming; the transformation unreal;

to support their addiction, many must and will steal.

Can they think this through rationally, before losing the plot?

Is gambling the devil’s work; or temptation we dare stop?

What type of adrenalin drives them to waste most of their life?

They will lose more than just money, their friends, and a wife?

Their greed and obsession controls reflex and thought,

Gambling leads to more trouble, and finally to be caught!
