I lie beneath a universe so great

March 15, 2019

A crescent moon smiled at just the right time,

as my spirit needs lifting tonight.

A diamond shines out, in the eastern night sky,

it’s Venus, that shines oh so bright.

The white Moon reflects, a setting sun,

on a day that I shall never forget.

My heart is uplifted, my soul has rejoiced,

on a life filled with not one regret.

Milky Way shimmers with thousands of stars,

each waiting long for its story to be told.

Galaxies, planets, millions of light years away,

a search for life is an expedition for the bold.

Jupiter, Saturn; Pluto and Neptune,

A night of stars, for each of us to see;

Universe of expectation, a sparkle lives in hope,

that one day an earthling will solve their mystery.

My eyelids droop and the brightest lights turn dim,

my adventurous dreams shall now take me far.

I pray this eve, as I lie beneath a universe so great,

that I awake with my very own guiding star.
